the Northern Powergrid Foundation is now open to grant applications related to community resilience projects.
In terms of a recap, the Foundation was launched in 2022 and has initially supported community resilience projects in areas that were worst affected by the winter storms of 2021-22, including providing solar panels, battery storage and back up power for community hubs. In this time, the Foundation has supported 60 projects, delivering more than £860,000 in grant funding.
As an independent charity serving the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, we have enduring plans to empower communities with projects across three key funding priorities:
- Community resilience; supporting projects that embed greater energy resilience within communities.
- Fuel poverty innovation; supporting innovative and scalable solutions for addressing fuel poverty in our region.
- Net zero networks; supporting programmes that builds awareness, educates and develops skills at a community level in our region to support the net zero transition.
