Consultation Re Green Spaces

Northumberland County Council are inviting you to take part in a community conversation regarding our publicly accessible Green Spaces, how they support nature, and how they are maintained.

As part of our Environmental Policy Statement the Council has made several commitments to support Nature Recovery & Biodiversity, these include:

• We will take a lead role on work to protect and enhance the natural environment and support improved biodiversity across the county.

• We will review our own land management and grounds maintenance practices to identify opportunities to support nature recovery and biodiversity whilst maintaining an attractive and safe environment

This project titled 'Supporting Nature in our Green Spaces' entails reviewing our grounds maintenance arrangements to identify how we can better support nature recovery and improved biodiversity in our public green spaces, and how we continue to provide good standards of maintenance to support the provision of safe and attractive Green Spaces.

As part of this, we are launching a community conversation to reach all stakeholders (residents, businesses, Town and Parish Councillors, County Councillors and staff) to understand what you view as priorities for our shared public spaces and how they are maintained.

Please follow this link (or QR code below) to participate in this important community conversation: https://haveyoursay.northumberland.gov.uk/waste/2025-grounds-maintenance-consultation

It should take no longer than 10 minutes.

Please submit a response by Monday 21st April 2025, the data collected will be used anonymously and you can request a copy of your responses at the end if you wish. It would also be greatly appreciated if you promoted the survey by forwarding this email to any groups you think may be interested in participating.
