Warkworth Floodgates

The Environment Agency have advised that the floodgates will be opened again on Wednesday the 10th June, allowing public access back on to the river bank. The EA will continue to monitor any potential flood risk, and staff will be onsite to close the gates if and when needed. The EA will be posting signage on the gates to tell the public about the gate operating procedures.

Closure of Warkworth Floodgates

The Environment Agency have advised that they have closed the flood gates in Warkworth wef 1st April and the gates will remain closed for the next month or so during the high tide periods. The usual protocol is to close the gates on a high tide and then reopen straight after, but this will not be the case over the next month. The reason for this is due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, and means that the EA can reduce the amount of times staff need to be sent out from their homes and work places.
