An Extraordinary Meeting of the Brinkburn & Hesleyhurst Parish Council will be held on Thursday 20th July 2023 at 7.30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall, Rothbury Road, Longframlington to discuss the sale of the Rothbury Estate and the Brinkburn & Hesleyhurst Community Playground and to consider making a nomination for a community asset.

URGENT UPDATE: ELECTORAL REVIEW OF NORTHUMBERLAND - A PROPOSED BOUNDARY CHANGE FOR BRINKBURN & HESLEYHURST

FURTHER TO THE INFORMATION PUBLISHED ON THIS MATTER (which will be found directly below this message), WE URGE YOU TO READ THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE AND MAKE YOUR RESPONSE TO THE PARISH COUNCIL.

The Parish Council (PC) is in the process of consulting on and considering the proposed electoral boundary changes for Brinkburn & Hesleyhurst (BHP) which will place the joint parish in the Longhorsley Division. All those we know who have expressed a view about this are strongly in opposition. 

Brinkburn & Hesleyhurst Parish Council Annual Governance & Accountability Return and Annual Accounts for the year ending 31st March 2023

The Brinkburn & Hesleyhurst Parish Council Annual Governance & Accountability Return and Annual Accounts for the year ending 31st March 2023 is now published and the relevant documents will be found in the Audit Section of Documents above. 

As an authority that has an annual income and expenditure of less than £25000, the Council has certified that it is exempt from External Audit. However, it has followed all necessary procedures to adhere to Local Government Regulations with respect to its accounts and the auditing of accounts 

Electoral Review of Northumberland - A Proposed Boundary Change for Brinkburn & Hesleyhurst

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) is reviewing the electoral arrangements for Northumberland and has just published its draft proposals

There is a major implication for the grouped parish of Brinkburn  ( currently in Shilbottle Ward) & Hesleyhurst (currently Rothbury Ward) with a proposal that they be moved into the Longhorsley Ward.

The Parish Council is embarking upon an amazing venture. It has set up a Climate Change and Biodiversity Committee made up of enthusiastic and energetic people who have a passion for our environment. They possess a host of knowledge and skills and are developing an exciting plan of action to tackle climate change and biodiversity at a local level. There will be more news forthcoming soon.
