Parish Council Update on the use of Ovingham Playing Fields by Dog users.
The above item was re- visited at the November Parish Council meeting.
The Council resolved to make some changes to earlier decisions and would firstly like to make it clear that dogs were never banned from the field. We had asked dog owners to keep their dogs on a lead and not use the football pitches or the play areas.
Thanks to the volunteers who have carried out a daily inspection during the last few weeks of the pitches and play areas, at the present time dog fouling incidents are rarely found in these areas.
I would like to thank those who have carried out this unpleasant task of removing dog faeces and also thank those residents and Councillors who regularly walk the playing fields removing other types of waste.
In the meantime we are also investigating the possibility of a dedicated fenced off area for those who wish to let their dogs off the leash for training, socialising and exercise.
Complaints from all residents have been considered and this is a compromise we hope will satisfy all concerned parties and we ask for your full support.
