Proposed Cemetery – Implications to precept
The Parish Council, at the original request of St Marys Church, have been lobbying NCC for many years to secure the playing field land at the Old First School Site as an extension to the existing cemetery. This was finally transferred last month but the failure to set up a community management group to run the cemetery has resulted in the cemetery now being left with the Parish Council.
NCC have funded the clearing and fencing of the land and the Parish Council have already paid the legal fees. Any burials will be self-funding, however the maintenance of this land will result in a cost to all residents through an increase in precept.
The Parish Council is keen to hear from all interested residents to ensure all views are considered. This decision will not just affect current residents but will remain as an asset (liability) of the Parish for many years to come.
The Parish Council takes its budget responsibility to its residents extremely seriously and look forward to hearing your views, either via email or face to face at our Surgery.
