December Parish Council Update
1.The tree that uprooted and damaged the street light on the amenity land next to 38, Piper Road has been removed. The street light is still to be replaced and is on the Street Lighting work programme. NCC have been thanked for their quick response to the tree removal.
2.Tree planting - our application to take part in the Local Authority Treescapes Funding Scheme has been successful and 20 trees are to be planted on the bankside of the playing field. Some of the trees planted on this area by NWL as part of the Surface Water Scheme a few years ago have died. NCC Programme for actual planting of the trees has not been decided , we hope to involve residents in the planting and we will keep you informed.
3.Community Tree Planting to celebrate the Queen`s Jublilee is also being considered and will be raised in our Village Appraisal Questionnaire in 2022.
4.Village Appraisal - Questionnaire - as part of our consultation processes, the Parish Council periodically (10 year cycle) undertakes a Village Appraisal exercise, the last Village Appraisal was in 2012. This involves sending a questionnaire to all households, to seek their views on a wide range of issues, including the environment, use of the playing field, grass cutting, recycling etc. Data is collated from these questionnaires and forms the basis of the Parish Council Action Plans.
As mentioned at the November Parish Council meeting, plans are underway to undertake the next Appraisal in early 2022 and we strongly encourage all households to participate. More details on the process will follow.
5. Dogs on the Playing Field - also at the November Parish Council meeting held last week, it was agreed in principle to the following proposal -
The PC will proceed with investigating the possibilty of providing a dedicated fenced off area of the playing field ,for those who wish to let their dogs off the leash for training, socialising and exercising.
The Parish Council would like to make clear again that no final decision on this proposal has been made and it was agreed to investigate the possibility of a fenced off area.
A final decision will only be taken after the results of the Village Appraisal have been collated and analysed, which will provide us with the views of a wide range of residents.
6.Information has been posted on the Parish Council Website and Facebook page regarding the setting up of a Climate Change Awareness Campaign. Village organisations have also been advised by email. Please have a look and let us know if you would be interested to join the Strategy Group. We already have some positive responses, but it is still not too late to volunteer. More on this to follow in the new year.
Merry Christmas To You All
