Ovingham Parish Council - January 2022 Update
1. Potholes are reported to NCC on a regular basis.
If you are aware of any potholes in your area please help by reporting to NCC or inform the Parish Council Clerk and these will be followed up.
2. Graffiti on the main bridge stone work has been removed by NCC
3. Double yellow lines are to be put in place at -
Nunnykirk entrance and the junction of Horsley Road - these are to be funded from our Local Councillor's Small Scheme Fund
A request was also made for the double yellow lines on the main road opposite Brewery Farmhouse to be extended and a white line down the centre of the road on the corner of Windsor Crescent and Tyne Gardens both have been confirmed and these will also funded by our Local Councillor.

4.The Speeding Survey has been delayed but NCC hope this will be carried out before March.
5. The completion of a small section of the Chalet Path on Horsley Road is on hold. The electricity company have still not re- laid the cable. Extra funding is required to complete the work which has presented issues they did not originally plan for.
6. Vehicle parking on the grassed area at entrance to North Meadow and Bewick Lane continues and damage to the grass has increased over a bigger area. Home Group are waiting for quotations from their Surveyor, they hope to extend the hard surface parking area but this will depend on the cost.
7. The planned Spring planting of trees on the Playing Fields and all domestic tree work in the village is on hold , NCC workforce are still dealing with Storm Arwen tree work damage across the area.
8. Further refurbishment of the pavilion is now complete .
Doors have been fitted to the shower area providing extra storage space and the large heating boiler has been removed providing space for line marker and sports equipment.Labour and materials very kindly provided by the contractor Bentleys. This has made such a difference to the changing rooms and we are so grateful for their support.
9. Phase 2 Surface Water Scheme - Further meetings have taken place with all parties involved and we will be receiving a letter from NCC updating us on the work programme. Residents in the immediate area will also receive an information letter.
10. The Sequoia Tree in the churchyard - the Church Faculty has approved the felling of this tree.
A planning application will be submitted to NCC Planning Department for their approval. Details of this will be posted on the NCC Planning Portal.
11. I am very pleased to report that regular inspections of the playing field during the last 2 months have shown a big improvement in the amount of litter, bottles, cans and dog faeces being left lying.
The responsible dog owners and the support of volunteer residents who help to keep the playing fields so clean ,tidy and well maintained is much appreciated.
12. NCC Snow Warden Scheme - you were informed of a Snow Warden Scheme which is run and operated by NCC a few months ago. This scheme encourages individuals to sign up and help to keep their local pathways safe by clearing snow and dealing with ice. NOT ROADS or areas of HIGH RISK.
A small number of residents have applied to be Snow Wardens and they will be receiving their equipment shortly.
13. Climate Change - there has been a very limited response to a previous request for volunteers to form a Climate Change Group. Further discussions will be held to determine how to proceed which may involve exploring a joint approach with Ovington.
14. Land North of the Hermitage Planning Application . A planning application has been submitted involving ground works to increase the number of static caravans on the site. The Parish Council has submitted comments to NCC which can be viewed on the NCC Planning Portal.
15. Village questionnaire - please find time to complete the questionnaire which was delivered to all households last week. We look forward to receiving your responses.
