Parish Council November 2021 Update

  1. Concrete Bollards in Layby - these were a temporary measure to prevent the regular occurrence of fly tipping in the layby.  To remove the bolllards and replace with large boulders is going to be very expensive and NCC funds are not available. The Parish Council are looking at a way of disguising the concrete bollards. 
  2. The blocked gullies at White Swan and church corner have been cleansed and all are running freely. When the gulley machine and traffic control vehicle were in the area they also did all the gullies on the Ovingham / Wylam road.
  3. Bewick Lane Parking on grassed area - Home Group have obtained quotes for extra parking in the area and are looking at funding opportunities avaialble to cover the costs.
  4. Phase 2 Water Scheme / Culvert in the area of Dene Garth / Cooks Field  -  No progress has been made, work was due to start in October but the Contractor was unable to mobilise the site ,work will not start until December at the earliest.
  5. Cherryburn Signage - all yellow signs in the village have been removed.
  6. Fencing and gate at the entrance to the village green is to be put in place this month.
  7. Missing gulley cover on Wylam Road - this has been replaced !!!!! and cone removed.
  8. Chalet Path - no progress - NCC are still trying to come to an agreement with NPower Grid and BT.
  9. Climate Change Village Action Group-  further details to be discussed at the November PC meeting.
  10. Parish Councillors have met with NCC Highway Officer to discuss parking issues in the village, road lining and speeding. Arrangements for a traffic speed survey is being organised and as soon as the speed camera is available the survey will be carried out at all three entrances to the village.  An earlier request made for double yellow line markings, at the entrance to Nunnykirk and junction of Horsley Road is being followed up. A request has also been made for white line marking on the road bend, entrance to Windsor Crescent from Tyne Gardens.
