September Parish Council Update

1.The Speed Surveys which were to take place in June this year were cancelled because of the Northern Gas works. They are now planned for the middle of October.

2. Concerns were raised related to safety of children and the elderly crossing the road in the area of Dene Close junction and Cherryburn Estate, parked cars on Piper Road and at both junctions making it very difficult to see clearly whether it is safe to cross the road.
A dropped kerb has been put in place on Piper Road opposite the one already in place in front of the Cherryburn Lane Houses. Residents will hopefully use this point to cross the road.

3. Blocked gullies in many areas of the village have been reported again and a request made for their cleansing.

4. Potholes on School Road, entrance to Bewick Lane and the stretch of road beside the Hermitage layby have been reported.

5. Items of garden / household furniture and play equipment have been deposited  on grassed areas in Bewick Lane.
Home Group have been asked to follow this up

6. Blocked drainage holes on the footbridge causing puddle areas in wet weather have been reported, these will be cleared ASAP.

7.The cotoneaster shrub on the Reading Room slope is to be cut back by NCC early one morning to avoid closing the bridge to traffic while work is carried out.
