Storm Arwen

Storm Arwen

Dear Residents,

Please see the message further below from Northumberland County Council.

As your Parish Council, we have followed up all issues reported and observed - fallen trees, faulty street lighting, blocked paths, gullies and roads needing to be swept.

We are not aware of any concerns the elderly and vulnerable may have. Friends and neighbours in the Village are very good at checking.

However, if you know of any resident who still needs assistance, please let the Parish Council know by speaking to one of your local Parish Councillors or emailing Ovinghamparishcouncil@yahoo.co.uk We will do our best to deal with any issues and follow up with Northumberland County Council if necessary.

Dear colleague,

I am writing to request your help as we continue to deal with the aftermath of Storm Arwen.

As you’ll know this was an unprecedented incident which led to thousands of homes losing power, water and phone lines. Unfortunately, three days after the storm, many are still without essential services.

While the council, along with the emergency services, have identified our most vulnerable residents and are providing all the support we can, we know you as parish and town councils know your own communities better than anyone.

We are therefore asking if you could let us know of any concerns you may have on potential elderly or vulnerable people in your parishes so we can follow-up and provide any help they need.  This would particularly include any in remote places who may not be as visible to neighbours.

It is possible that power and water may have been restored to your area and you are not aware of any significant issues or concerns – in which case there is no need to get in touch.

We would ask if you have any information you share it with us via our dedicated mailbox – stormarwen@northumberland.gov.uk

Thank you in advance for your valuable assistance in this matter.
