WCA Parish Council 137 Discretionary Grant Policy

On 19th October 2021 the Parish Council formally adopted a policy for the discretionary award of grants in accordance with the powers afforded to it under S137 of the Local Government Act 1972. The policy aims to ensure that all grants are made in a transparent, equitable, and consistent manner and that local community groups and organisations have an equal opportunity to apply for funding support.

To qualify for a grant, a group or organisation must be established for charitable, benevolent, social, cultural, recreational, or philanthropic purposes. The project, service or activity should be something which makes the local community a better place in which to live, work or visit, and it should benefit people who live in the parish. Each group may make one application per financial year.

The Parish Council will consider all applications on an annual basis at its meeting in February, which is held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Applications must be submitted by Application Form and sent to the Parish Clerk by 7th February 2025 closing date. Only application forms received by this date will be considered at the meeting.

All applications will be assessed after the closing date. Decisions will be made by Whittingham, Callaly & Alnham Parish Council, with its decision being final. Due account will be taken of the extent to which funding has been sought or secured from other sources or the applicant's own fundraising activities. A full list of successful applications will be published in the Parish Council Minutes.
