Craster Neighbourhood Plan Made Version

Northumberland County Council has resolved to ‘make’ the Craster Neighbourhood Plan. The Craster Neighbourhood Plan has been brought into legal force. It now forms part of the statutory Development Plan for the Craster Neighbourhood Area which comprises the whole of the civil parish of Craster. Decisions on planning applications must now be made in accordance with policies in the Craster Neighbourhood Plan unless material considerations indicate otherwise.

The Craster Neighbourhood Plan was submitted to Northumberland County Council in July 2020. Publicity was undertaken in accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. A report following Independent Examination of the Plan was published on 30 October 2020. This report found that, with minor modifications, the Plan passed the necessary legal tests and it could be put to local referendum. The County Council accepted these modifications for the reasons set out in the Examiner’s Report. A local referendum was held in the Parish of Craster on 10 June 2021. A majority of those voting were in favour of the Plan being used by the County Council in making decisions on planning applications.

The Craster Neighbourhood Plan complies with legal requirements governing the making of neighbourhood development plans set out in the Planning Acts and associated Regulations. Accordingly, the Craster Neighbourhood Plan was made by resolution of the County Council’s Cabinet on 13 July 2021. Decisions on planning applications in the Craster Neighbourhood Area must now be made in accordance with policies in the Plan unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
