Northumberland County Council Problem Reporting Portal

A set of instructions have been written to guide people when reporting probems to the County Council. Did you know about the new or replacement Oil boiler ban 2026 ?

Your home will not be able to be heated with either a new or replacement oil boiler after 2026.

Gas boiler needs replacing?

Gas boilers will be banned from new build homes 2025. Existing gas boilers will need to be hydrogen blend ready by 2028 or potentially phased out by 2030.

Changes to Opening arrangements for Prudhoe (West Wylam) Household waste centre

Please note that due to cuts, Northumberland County Council are reducing the opening times for West Wylam tip. 

The centre will operate as usual at 7 days a week until & including Monday 15th May and closing at 7.30pm.

From then, the centre will only be open Fridays to Mondays inclusive with the following hours:-

1st April - 31st October: 8am - 7.30pm

1st November - 31st March: 8am - 6pm

Retirement of Clerk

Due to the retirement of Margaret, Ovington Parish Council are looking for someone to take on the role of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.

It is a paid position, working mainly from home and for approximately 2 hours a week. Prior knowledge of Parish Council work is not essential. Some training will be available. However, as the Clerk is also responsible for preparing a (small) budget, some background experience of accounts would be useful.

Ovingham & Ovington Climate Awareness Group

A launch meeting of the climate awareness group will take place tomorrow , 9th November at Ovingham Middle school between the hours of 5.30pm & 7pm.

Pupils from the schools will be taking part as well as GoLocal, Whittle Dene CIC, Eco Church and Hexham Net Zero amongst others.

Please come along to support this event especially relevant during the current COP27 talks in Egypt.

Next Parish Council Meeting

The next meeting scheduled for Monday 12th September has been cancelled due to the death of Queen Elizabeth.

A date will be re-arranged as soon as possible which will be after the state funeral, probably towards the end of September.

Road Closure - Ovingham to Wylam

Temporary Traffic Regulation Order as follows: C254 Ovingham To Wylam, Ovingham

Northern Gas Networks closure to allow for gas mains replacement. It is expected that the road will be closed 17/10/2022 - 13/01/2022

access will be maintained for Residents.

Road closure will be suspended from 22/12/2022 for Christmas/New Year and be back on from 03/01/2023

Ovington Parish Council Tree Project Update - July 2022

The OPC Tree Project enters a new phase in the Autumn with a whole new set of trees being planted by volunteers during November 2022. Exact date still to be organised. Volunteers will be sought via email and Facebook posts. The latest project updates have been added to the Documents section of this website.

Next Parish Council meeting - change of date

Please note that due to circumstances, the next Parish Council meeting will now take place on Thursday, 21st July at 7pm in the committee room, Ovington Social Club. 

Agenda will be uploaded in due course.

Road Closure - Sunday 31st July by Ovingham First School

The above road will be closed on Sunday 31st July between hours of 9am & 5pm. This is to place a crane on the road which will be putting a portacabin at the first school.

Pedestrians will be able to walk past - not sure about cyclists?
