2000 - Abolition of Parish Wards
In 2000, representation was made by Belsay Parish Council to Castle Morpeth Borough Council to consider the abolition of it's parish wards. After consultation with its electorate, an Order was made on 21 November 2000 under Section 17(3) of the Local Government and Rating Act 1997 to abolish Wards 1, 2 and 3 of Belsay parish and to take effect for the ordinary election of parish councillors in May 2003.
