December Parish Council Update

1.The tree that uprooted and damaged the street light on the amenity land next to 38, Piper Road has been removed. The street light is still to be replaced and is on the Street Lighting work programme. NCC have been thanked for their quick response to the tree removal.

Introduction

The Council recognises the need to address climate change at global, national, county, local and personal levels and to this end support the aims of the County Council Climate Change Action Plan 2021-23.

Dear Residents, 

Please see the message further below from Northumberland County Council. 

As your Parish Council, we have followed up all issues reported and observed - fallen trees, faulty street lighting, blocked paths, gullies and roads needing to be swept.

We are not aware of any concerns the elderly and vulnerable may have. Friends and neighbours in the Village are very good at checking.

The above item was re- visited at the November Parish Council meeting.
The Council resolved to make some changes to earlier decisions and would firstly like to make it clear that dogs were never banned from the field. We had asked dog owners to keep their dogs on a lead and not use the football pitches or the play areas.

URGENT - PARISH COUNCIL MEETING 21st OCTOBER 2021 CANCELLED

Please note that unfortunately the Parish Council Meeting due to be held tonight (21st October) has had to be cancelled, as the Clerk to the Parish Council tested positive for COVID 19 last night.

The next meeting will be on 18th November 2021.

Please accept our apologies for the very late cancellation but this is obviously due to circumstances beyond our control.

Parish Council Staffing Update - October 2021

After approximately 10 years of loyal service our Parish Clerk, Margaret Davenport stepped down from her role at the end of September. We wish to thank Margaret for all her hard work over the years, she will be greatly missed. We have appointed a new Clerk, Paul Smith, who took up post from the beginning of October.

We welcome 3 new Councillors to the Parish Council.  Tony Ford, Jonathan Neal and Charlie Downing were all co-opted recently and they are looking  forward to joining  the current team of Parish Councillors in representing the residents of Ovingham. 

Surgery Sessions Before Next Ovingham Parish Council Meeting 21st October 2021

Please note that Ovingham Parish Council are offering residents the opportunity to attend ‘Surgery Sessions’ with Councillors before the next Parish Council meeting on 21st October 2021. 

The sessions will be held at Ovingham Playing Fields Pavilion, Windsor Crescent, Ovingham between 6pm - 6.50pm on 21st October and residents can book one 10 minute session by contacting The Clerk at ovinghamparishcouncil@yahoo.co.uk 

Speeding in the village

Traffic Speed through the Village - Background Information and Update

Traffic speeding isues go back several years,the Parish Council have had numerous conversations with NCC Highways regarding possible measures to reduce speeds on Castle View, Horsley Road and the West Road heading towards Ovington.  Inter-active 30mph signs have been in place for some considerable time at these locations which are the main entrance points to the village.
