Rennington Parish Council Budget 2024-25

At last year’s budget setting meeting Rennington Parish Council decided not to increase the precept for 2023/24, agreeing instead to use some of their reserves to cover the shortfall in income.  Unfortunately the Parish Council, like most people, didn’t expect inflation to peak at over 10%.  The result was that we had to eat into our reserves by over £1,000 to cover planned expenditure.  This is not sustainable over the longer term.

For the next year (2024/25) the Parish Council has budgeted for a year on year increase in expenditure of 3.1%. Within that, our largest discretionary spend relates to the Neighbourhood Plan enabling us to hold community engagement and consultation events over the coming year. This is to ensure the Plan does reflect the views of the community.

On that basis and to ensure we don’t deplete our reserves any further, the precept will increase from £38.11 to £44.50 (Band D equivalent).
