Neighbourhood Development Plan - Complete the Questionnaire

Neighbourhood Planning provides the opportunity for communities to set out a positive vision of how the want their locality to develop in the future – in ways that meet identified local aspirations.

To be able to do this we need your input. This online questionnaire asks for your views on our local amenities and community facilities, environment, transport and infrastructure, housing, the local economy, and industry and employment.  You can also complete the same questionnaire on paper.

By completing this questionnaire you will be help the Parish Council formulate policies which represent the views of residents of the Parish.

The consolidated results of the survey will be published on the Parish Council web site.

Thank you for your help.

Neighbourhood Development Plan Flyer September 2021

Rennington Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan

What is neighbourhood planning

Neighbourhood planning gives communities direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development, growth and future change of their local area. It allows communities to choose where they want new homes, shops and offices to be built, have their say on what those new buildings should look like, and what infrastructure should be provided. Also neighbourhood development plans can contain policies for the development and use of other land and green spaces too.

Neighbourhood planning is a right which communities in England can choose to use, and was introduced through the Localism Act in 2011. Along with the Northumberland County Council Local Plan it will control new building and land use in the Parish for the next 15 years and highlight local places or characteristics which really matter to our community.

Who is leading the process

Rennington Parish Council is responsible for creating the Neighbourhood Development Plan. A working party, comprising of both Parish Councillors and representatives of the local community, will consult residents to provide evidence of what people think, so that proposed policies reflect local views.

Grant funding is available to enable the use of consultants to help with the process and to cover any other costs incurred.

Once adopted the Neighbourhood Development Plan will determine where development will go and what it will look like. Additionally, more money (Community Infrastructure Levy) from local development will be filtered down to be spent on local priorities so we can identify a ‘wish list’ of what we would like to spend it on.
